Friendly people in the Open Science community advised us that the domain openscience.uni-bielefeld.de looks odd, especially if you are not from Germany. It is hard to memorize and it does not tell you that this is a Q&A site. So we thought about registering a domain name. Unfortunately, the ampersand (&) is not allowed in domain names. Finally, somebody suggested the domain name ask-open-science.org, and it stuck. So we changed the site's name accordingly.

Ask Open Science used to be called Open Science Q&A but we changed the name when we registered the domain ask-open-science.org. Everything else stays the same: We are still hosted by Bielefeld University.
